During Diwali, families celebrate the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil as they end the fiscal year. The five-day event is celebrated with candles, lamps, fireworks, and other colorful lights with feasts and gifts. As it marks the beginning of the new year in the Hindu calendar, some families also spend Diwali forgiving the past, forging new bonds, and reflecting on the past year with gratitude.
No matter the year you have had, there is always something to reflect back on and be thankful for. Taking the time to think back on the year allows one to come to terms with all that has happened and search for highlights, no matter how small. Being thankful is a thought that can bring peace. Take that peace a step further by taking action and giving back.
