Pray For Bengal – Cyclone Amphan (by Ryan Kanungo, The Lawrenceville School, New Jersey)
May 21, 2020 – the day Cyclone Amphan hit the India-Bangladesh border killing nearly 100 and leaving 14 million without power, and thousands of children homeless without food or clean drinking water.
The city of Calcutta has left tens of thousands of children begging for food during this lockdown due to the global coronavirus pandemic. But it’s not just them. It’s their families as well. They have to do all they can to provide for their families for survival in the most difficult of time periods.
My grandma’s 3rd floor of her house was completely flooded and my family was not able to reach out to our relatives living in Kolkata for 3 days. However, we are glad to hear that they are doing well, but others are far from doing well.
Houses have been flooded and destroyed everywhere and we need your help as soon as possible to help these poor families attain survival.
